I went for the film with similar expectations I had for even MSG: The Messenger. Nobody goes for a Sunny Leone flick for story, screenplay, direction or any other technical aspects. Rather the stuff you'd watch with your friends over a beer and some some! If there's anything that I'd tell you bout this film is, it's not the film you'd go to the theatre for. Of course there's a lot of drama and a lot of color and there are lot of things. But there's so much grandeur as if Sanjay Leela Bhansali was picking the sets and then there is a Dholi Taaro rip off too, which is the only song you will remember after hearing the 9 songs in the film. Sunny is making the most of her chances, and clearly there's not much acting to Sunny or anyone else in the film. Spanning across births, in the hope to meet her lover (who in each birth Sunny is seen making out with), Leela is all about finding the connection to past life love. If you have watched Karisma Kapoor's come back film 'Dangerous Ishq', you have seen all of 'Ek Paheli Leela', minus the raunchiness. You'll never understand why so much money is spent on films like Ek Paheli Leela!īefore I get started with the plot synopsis, let me cut it short. If this is your idea of a movie weekend, go for it- the thrill of watching a film that you will forever diss and disassociate from cause it is "cheap" is priceless isnt it. Thankfully everything else is also not what one should be expecting to see when venturing into the hall for this film.
Everything else is not important for the maker. The male actors serve the only purpose of being the wood for Sunny (pun intended), the lines are corny, the scenes are placeholders between make out sessions, the songs hummable and there only to let us see Sunny in her element. What the film unsurprisingly does not have is acting, or story telling, or any other craft other than titilation. To help her is the grand scale on which the film is mounted, vibrant colors, sets that remind one of a Bhansali film (also cause of the dholi tharo song) and costumes that look straight out a garden vareli ad, only infinitesmally smaller, Ek Paheli Leela spells grandeur in every frame.
